These notes cover a stay at Chopta Resort in Baniyakund, Chopta, Uttarakhand. They are written in plain language — please read them before you confirm a room.
01 Welcome
Chopta Resort is a Magpie Group property. By booking, paying an advance, or checking in, you agree to the terms on this page. If something here is unclear, write to us before you travel — we would rather answer a question than surprise you at the desk.
02 Booking & payment

- The booking amount (10% of the package) is non-refundable.
- The remaining balance is due before arrival or at check-in, as stated in your confirmation.
- We accept UPI, bank transfer, and other methods shared at the time of booking.

Peak season
For stays from 20 April to 15 June and 1 October to 20 November, a cancelled booking is not refunded, whatever the reason.
Where a refund is due, we usually send it within 5–7 working days after the written cancellation is logged.
04 Check-in & check-out
- Check-in is from 12:00 noon. Check-out is 10:00 AM.
- Every adult guest must show a government photo ID at the desk.
- Early check-in or late check-out depends on the house being free that day. Ask us the evening before — we will try.
05 During your stay
- The resort sits inside a quiet meadow. Keep voices and music low after 10:00 PM so other guests and the forest can rest.
- Chopta is part of the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary. Do not litter, feed wildlife, or light open fires outside designated spots.
- Smoking is not allowed inside cottages. Use the outdoor areas we point out at arrival.
- Damage to rooms, furniture, or grounds will be charged at repair cost.
- Children must be supervised on the meadow paths and near the stream.
06 Mountain conditions
Chopta has no grid electricity. We run on solar power and a generator, mostly in the evenings. Lights, charging, and hot water are planned around that — they are not city-continuous.
- In harsh weather, hot water may come in buckets. Thank you for treating that as part of the altitude, not a fault.
- The walk from parking can be steep. Guests with knee replacements or similar concerns should write to us first.
- Road blocks, snow, landslides, or sanctuary orders can delay or close a journey. Those events are outside our control.
07 Dining
Meals at Shivoham Restaurant follow the menu and timings shared at the house. Food bills carry 18% GST extra. Tell us about allergies or a special diet when you book — the kitchen is small and plans ahead.
08 Liability
Walks, treks, and time outdoors are at your own risk. Keep cash, phones, and papers with you or in the room safe if one is provided. We are not responsible for loss caused by weather, road closure, or a third-party trek operator, including Magpie Eco Tourism bookings made separately.
We may update this page. The date at the side is the version that applies to new bookings.
