An emerald lake under Chaukhamba
Deoria Tal sits at 2,400 m — a still, green lake that mirrors the Chaukhamba peaks on a clear morning. The walk starts at Sari Village, about 30 km from Chopta, and climbs 3 km through the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary.
It is a moderate trek of one to two hours. Camping is available by the water if you want to stay for sunrise, when the reflection is at its sharpest. Overnight at Chopta Resort the night before.
