An emerald lake under Chaukhamba
Deoria Tal sits at 2,400 m — a still, green lake that mirrors the Chaukhamba peaks on a clear morning. The walk starts at Sari Village, about 30 km from Chopta, and climbs 3 km through the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary.
It is a moderate trek of one to two hours. Camping is available by the water if you want to stay for sunrise, when the reflection is at its sharpest.
