Goddess Kali’s river shrine
A Shakti Peetha in the Garhwal forests
Kalimath sits on the banks of the Saraswati River, a short drive beyond Ukhimath. It is one of the sacred Shakti Peethas of Uttarakhand — dedicated to Goddess Kali, with sister shrines to Lakshmi and Saraswati in the same courtyard.
There is no idol of Kali here. Devotees worship through a silver plate over the sanctum — a quiet, unusual darshan in a forested valley. Most guests stay at Chopta Resort, drive via Ukhimath, and return the same afternoon.
