Chopta’s meadows — often called the Mini Switzerland of India — sit at about 2,600 m inside the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary. Chopta Resort is built in the middle of this bugyal: oak and deodar at the edge, open grass, and a quiet stream.
You do not need a long drive. Walk out in the morning for rhododendron in spring, Chaukhamba views on a clear day, and the trailhead for Tungnath a few kilometres on. It is the slowest, closest place on the map.
