Shiva’s navel shrine
A Panch Kedar temple in a high Himalayan valley
Madmaheshwar — also called Madhyamaheshwar — is one of the five Panch Kedar shrines. The stone temple sits near Gaundar in Rudraprayag, dedicated to the navel of Lord Shiva, with Chaukhamba, Kedarnath peak, and alpine meadows all around.
Guests stay at Chopta Resort, then drive via Ukhimath toward Ransi or Gaundar before the trek. Pair it with a visit to Tungnath, the other Panch Kedar shrine above Chopta, on a longer Garhwal circuit.
